Bill Jauss was a legendary Chicago sportswriter for nearly 50 years with the Chicago Daily News, the Chicago Today and the Chicago Tribune.  Bill was an original member and moderator of the radio show called "The Sports Writers", which was broadcast on WGN Radio from 1975-1993.  The show gathered together various sports writers, in a cigar-laden smoke filled room, discussing sports in the days prior to talk radio and all-sports formats.  In 1985, a video adaptation of the long-running radio program hit the television circuit and became nationally syndicated across the country and ran for 15 years.  Jauss was an award winning journalist, but always had time for everyday people, as he would occasionally strike up a conversation with a reader over a beer or two.  Bill was a graduate of Northwestern University where he played football and would later become a teacher in their School of Journalism.  He was a member of Wildcats' Rose Bowl championship team in 1949.  Mr. Jauss was inducted into the United States Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame in 2003.
