Al is a member of the Hoop Historians Board of Directors. He was a former Assistant Basketball Coach to fellow Hoop Historian Dennis Mishko at Keystone College in LaPlume, Pennsylvania. Al is a UCLA season ticket holder for Bruins basketball with Fellow Hoop Historian Hersh Cherson. He also is a traveling partner with fellow Hoop Historians Joe Spagnolo and Dorothy Kim in traveling to select USC away football games annually. Sack was a page in the U.S. House of Representatives in July 1965 (on the House floor when they debated the Voting Rights Act of 1965), and in August 1965, he was a member (and team co-captain) of the Jewish Welfare Board USA Basketball team that played in Israel, France and England. The team also marched in the opening ceremonies of the 1965 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv. Al received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania where he played varsity basketball for Coach Wilbur Renken, a Past President of the NABC, and received his Masters Degree in Education from Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts. Sack is a past president of the Mountain and Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers (formerly the Western Association of Colleges and Employers) and was awarded Member Emeritus of the Association in 2019. Al was a Human Resources consultant in Southern California before retiring in 2018. Among the notable sporting events Al has attended include the MLB All-Star Game in 1960, 1989, 2010; the World Series in 1962, 1969, 1971, 1974, 1977, 2002; the NBA Finals in 1984 and 2001; the Summer Olympics in 1984; the Rose Bowl from 1972-1997 and 1999; the Super Bowl in 1977 and 1980; Wimbledon in 1995; and the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York in 2022 and 2023..
