  • Michigan State became the first team to play a Final Four in their home state since Duke in 1994 (Charlotte).

  • The annual Welcome dinner was held at the City Beer Market in Windsor, Ontario.  A group record 30 people were in attendance.

  • The Hoop Historians Headquarters was located at the Windsor Quality Suites on Dougall Avenue Windsor, Ontario.

  • Several Hoop Historians were interviewed on Thursday night of Final Four week and were the lead story on the WXYZ-TV 11:00 p.m. newscast.

  • The group took a guided tour of Comerica Park on the afternoon of the National Championship game.

  • Dennis Mishko was recognized with a Hoop Historians Service Award for his induction into the Keystone College Hall of Fame.

  • The membership conducted their first election of officers with John Mayberry, Dennis Mishko, Ted Reineking, Al Sack and Bruce Ziemer being elected.

  • Steve Atkins, Cal Dilworth, Mike Gant, Steve Newhouse and Peter and Noel Sotta were elected as full members to the Hoop Historians.
