National Semifinals:  Utah 65, North Carolina 59;
Kentucky 86, Stanford 85 (OT).


 

• The Final Four consisted of bluebloods Kentucky and North Carolina, along with Utah (whose last Final Four was 1966) and Stanford (whose last Final Four was 1942).

• The Local Organizing Committee's Welcome Celebration was held outdoors and featured a varied variety of food and southern hospitality.

• Post-game roundtable discussions were held at the Saint Anthony Hotel on Travis Street in downtown San Antonio.

• Victory cigars were lit in Pete's Pub by Kentucky alumnus Bruce Ziemer after the Wildcats won the title game.
