   MEET THE HOOP HISTORIANS

The Hoop Historians’ Hoop Hysteria Contest is open to any Hoop Historians member or Friend of the Hoop Historians.  Participants may submit one entry prior to the tip-off of the Round of 64 on Thursday (March 20) of the 2025 Mens' NCAA Tournament.

Participants will select their National Champion and their Final Four teams along with their top five conferences (in order of preference) that will participate in the tournament.

50 points will be awarded for each correctly listed Final Four team and 50 additional points will be awarded for the correctly identified National Champion.

The five conference selections will accrue points based on a dual weighted scoring system.  Participants will receive points for each conference’s team’s wins in the tournament.  The first selected conference will multiply their point total by weight of 5.0.  The second selected conference will multiply their point total by 4.0.  The third selected conference will multiply their point total by 3.0.  The fourth selected conference will multiply their total by 2.0.  And the fifth selected conference will multiply their total by 1.0.

Games in the First Four and Opening Rounds will be weighed with a multiplier of 1.0.  Games in the second round (Round of 32) will be weighed with a multiplier of 2.0.  Games in the third round (Sweet 16) will be weighed with a multiplier of 3.0.  Games in the fourth round (Elite Eight) will be weighed with a multiplier of 4.0.  All three Final Four games will be weighed with a multiplier of 5.0.

The totals of all points will be used to determine the winning entrant.  In the event of a tie, the person that correctly chooses the National Champion among the tied entries will be declared the winner.  If there is still a tie, the participant with the most correct Final Four teams will be the winner.  If a tie still exists after these tiebreakers, then the entry that was first electronically received will be the winner.  If multiple entries are received from the same individual, the last entry received within the allowable time frame will be scored.  Entries received after the tip-off of the first game in the Round of 64 will not be eligible.

Results will be posted on the Hoop Historians website during the contest.
