BENNETT Residence: Chino Hills, California -- Final Fours Attended: (10) 1999-2004, 2006-2009. Former Head Basketball Coach at Savanna High School in Anaheim, California. The Rebels won three straight Orange County League Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008 and most made back-to-back trips to the Southern California Division III-AA state quarterfinals his last two years. Bennett's teams won five league titles from 2002 to 2008. Steve stepped down from his position after the 2008 season to spend more time with his family. Bennett also coached at Katella High School in Anaheim before becoming the head mentor at Savanna. BRIAN
BURMEISTER Residence: Geneva, Illinois -- Final Fours Attended: (45) 1962-1964, 1967-2008. Senior statesman of the Hoop Historians. Brian leads the Hoop Historians with 45 Final Fours attended. Brian remains a long-time season ticket holder at UCLA, despite living more than 2000 miles away from Pauley Pavilion. Sports adventures through the years have built close friendships with legendary John Wooden and baseball's Roland Hemond among many others. Other friends in the college hoop profession include a who's who of UCLA stalwarts: Steve Lavin, Mark Gottfried, Jim Harrick, Mike Warren and Larry Farmer Outside of sports, he considers two most notable friends as politicians Adlai Stevenson and Charles Schulz. Adlai was a family friend from the Libertyville days and Schulz and Brian became friends after a late 1960's visit. Brian graduated from Lake Forest College and played baseball there for DePaul basketball Hall of Famer Dick Triptow. The Dean of the Hoop Historians was also appointed as chairperson of the Membership Committee. BILL
CARSLEY Residence: Chicago, Illinois -- Final Fours Attended: (34) 1976-2009. Formerly coached at Weber High School in Chicago, and taught there as well as Fenwick High School in Oak Park and Saint George High School in Evanston. A recently retired lawyer with the city of Chicago, Bill was the former chairperson of the Chicago Bar Association Sports Law Committee and a long-time Cubs, Bears, DePaul, and Northwestern Football season ticket holder Seldom seen without his traditional Chicago Cubs cap (either Cubbie blue or occasionally a green one). Granted an Honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. Worked in the sports departments at the Chicago Tribune, Chicago American (later The Chicago Today) and City News Bureau. Still writing as a frequent contributor to the Letters to the Editor in the Chicago daily newspapers. As a big supporter of his alma mater DePaul University, where he earned his Bachelors, Masters, and Law Degrees, Bill was enshrined into the university's Hall of Fame in 2008 for his never ending contributions to the athletic programs. Bill also ran across Ireland with the Niles West Oakton Running Club during the fall of 2004 and still competes in various mini-marathons and road races. The past three years, Bill has attended every game of the Big East Tournament in Madison Square Garden. Other Notable Sporting Events Attended: Super Bowls 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1986. Summer Olympic Games 1976, 1984, 1996. In addition, Bill has attended numerous NBA playoff games and post-season baseball contests.
