Joe is the Executive Director of the Hoop Historians responsible for the day-to-day operations of the group. A coach, official and athletic administrator for over 25 years, Spagnolo was the director of the prestigious Proviso West Holiday Basketball Tournament over the past three decades. Joe was selected to the event's All-Time All-Tournament Team in 2000, which included the likes of Kevin Garnett, Isiah Thomas and Doc Rivers. "Spags" coached five different sports at his alma mater and coached athletes there that would later play in the NBA, the NFL and in Minor League Baseball. Joe is a certified basketball official in Illinois and has worked in the state playoffs the last five years. Spagnolo is also the courtside statistician for mens and womens basketball games at De Paul University. For his many endeavors, he was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010.
