MEET THE HOOP HISTORIANS
HONORARY MEMBER   JERRY WAINWRIGHT

Jerry is the former head basketball coach at UNC-Wilmington, Richmond and DePaul Universities.  Wainwright led the UNCW Seahawks to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 2000 and returned to the Big Dance in 2002.  Two years later he took the Richmond Spiders back to the NCAA Tournament.  In 2007 Wainwright was the head coach of the the FIBA Americas Under 19 championship for men in Serbia, directing them to a silver medal -- the country's first medal in that event since 1999.  Prior to being a head coach, Jerry was an assistant at Xavier and Wake Forest and coached high school basketball in Colorado and Illinois.   Elected to the Hoop Historians as an Honorary Member:  April, 2010
