Proviso West Holiday Tournament Gets Even
Stronger

There is a reason why Joe
Spagnolo is the premier holiday
tournament coordinator in Illinois. It
is because even though Spagnolo helps oversee the
state's top holiday tournament at Proviso West, he
does not stand pat. Sure enough, Spagnolo
has gone out and added three quality teams to the
field for the 2006 Proviso West Holiday
Tournament and in doing so has made the
tournament stronger than ever.
The three new additions to next year's Proviso
West tournament field are T.F. North, St.
Patrick and Morgan
Park. T.F. North and St. Patrick
will be making their first appearances at Proviso
West, while Morgan Park returns for the first time
since 1975, the year they won the Class AA state
championship.
All three teams sport players who are D1
caliber and rank among the top prospects in
Illinois from the class of 2007. Those
players are 6'7 Demond Watt from
T.F. North, 6'0 Sam Maniscalco
from St. Patrick and 6'8 Isaiah
Martin from Morgan Park.
Schools that have shown interest in Watt
include Northern Illinois, Loyola-Chicago,
Mississippi, Vanderbilt, Indiana State
and Bradley. Maniscalco is
being recruited by Bradley,
Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois and
Wisconsin-Green Bay as well as
others. Meanwhile, schools on Martin's list
include Southern Illinois, Illinois,
Xavier, Baylor and
Valparaiso.
