MARK NORDENBERG -- UNIVERSITY CHANCELLOR -- SOMEONE YOU SHOULD KNOW

Mark A. Nordenberg is chancellor and chief executive officer of the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, he heads one of the nation’s leading public research universities and one of the oldest institutions of higher learning west of the Allegheny Mountains. Nordenberg is the University’s 17th chancellor, and the summer of 2005 marked the 10th anniversary of his move into the school's top post.

Chancellor Nordenberg came to the University in 1977, when he joined the Pitt law faculty. He served as dean of the School of Law from 1985 until 1993 and as interim provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs from 1993–1994. In 1994, Mark was elevated to the special faculty rank of Distinguished Service Professor. The University’s Board of Trustees elected him interim chancellor in 1995 and chancellor a year later.

Whether it be a home game at the Peterson Events Center, at the Big East Tournament in New York City, on the road to the Final Four at first round games through the Regionals, Mark is a usual fixture cheering for the Panthers.
