CLASS OF 2011 HOOP HISTORIANS INDUCTEES
DOUG FOLEY
Residence: Fishers, IN
Attending the University of Kentucky, Doug has been a “gym rat” since
working the Wildcats basketball camp from 1980-83. Foley ran the Adias’ Sports
World Camp in Lexington from 1983-87, which was the nation’s largest high school
summer league at the time. Doug has attended 26 Final Fours, including every
one since 1996.
DAVID MATEER
Residence: Peoria, IL
David has served four different universities as Sports Information Director
from 1980-1996. He is currently a project manager at Multi Ad Publishing, which
produces program for numerous colleges and conferences and is the Official
Scorer for Womens’ Basketball games at Bradley University. He has attended five
Mens' Final Fours (1995, 1997, 2000, 2006 and 2010) and two Women’s Final Fours
(2005 & 2009), and has been at 12 different first, second and regional rounds of
the NCAA Tournament.
BREN PETAR
Residence: Santa Ana, CA
A former basketball coach, Bren worked eight years at the high school and
was an assistant in the Junior College ranks. Petar has attended thirty Final
Fours, with his first coming in 1976, and then attending 29 straight from
1982-2010.
DARREN SACK
Residence: San Jose, CA
Darren has been around Hoop Historians for most of his lifetime, and
attended his first of four consecutive Final Fours in Minneapolis (1992) at the
age of nine. Darren played basketball at Katella High School in California and
and Saint Thomas More Prep and was a member of the New England Prep School
champions. Sack was selected in the 11th round of the 2004 Major League
Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants and played five seasons of
professional ball in addition to pitching three years at Sonoma State
University. He is currently pursuing a degree at Saint Mary’s College.
TOM TALLARITO
Residence: Arlington Heights, IL
Tom has been the shot clock operator for the DePaul Blue Demons for over
twenty years. Tallarito also served as timekeeper for the Chicago Skyliners ABA
Team. In addition to being on the sidelines, Tom coached Girls Elementary
School Basketball from 1998-2002. He has attended four Final Fours and six
early rounds of the NCAA Tournament.
