CLASS OF 2010 HOOP HISTORIANS INDUCTEES
JIM JORGENSEN
(Rocklin, CA):
Retired Division I Basketball Official (1975-85) and former Commissioner of
Division II Northern California Athletic Conference (1985-1995). Since 1998,
Jim has been the supervisor of officials and a high school sports assigner 102
schools in the California Interscholastic Federation. A former Peace Corps
Volunteer in Kenya, Jim has attended every Final Four since 1986.

MEMBERSHIP MEMBERS
AL BENNINGER
(Louisville, KY):
A fixture at the Final Four that spans five decades, Benninger was the captain
of the University of Louisville Stat Crew Team which worked every NCAA
Championship since 1969. During his 45-year span working for the Cardinals, Al
missed only five basketball games. Benninger also worked as statistician for
Louisville football since 1961, ABA basketball for the Kentucky Colonels, 13
consecutive NCAA Division II Championships and nine Orange Bowls.
JIM HARRICK
(Rancho Santa Margarita, CA):
The former head coach at Pepperdine, UCLA, Rhode Island and Georgia, Harrick led
the Bruins to NCAA Championship in 1995. Harrick is only one of four coaches to
take four schools to NCAA tournament. Over his career, Jim's teams compiled 16
NCAA appearances. Harrick started coaching at Morganside HS in Inglewood CA.
Jim was elected to his alma mater’s, Morris Harvey College-University
of Charleston, Golden Eagle Sports Hall of Fame.
BILL JAUSS (Wilmette,
IL):
Legendary Chicago sportswriter for nearly 50 years with the Chicago Daily
News, the Chicago Today and the Chicago Tribune. Bill was an
original member of the nationally-syndicated TV show called "Sports Writers", a
video adaptation of a long-running radio program on Chicago's
WGN. The first
airing of Sportswriters on TV was on
WFLD-TV in
1985 and the show ran for 15 years. Bill is a 2003 inductee to the United
States Basketball Writers Association Hall of Fame.
LES LOMBARDI
(Lake Katrine, NY):
The Vice-President of Marketing for Anaconda Sports, Lombardi has been an
ambassador to college basketball with his efforts in sponsoring and promoting
the Great Alaska Shootout. On the court, Les was the head basketball coach at
Delaware Valley College and Churchill High School. Les won a Maryland State AA
Championship, and built a successful collegiate Division III program at Delaware
Valley College over seven years.
JERRY WAINWRIGHT (Wilmington, NC):
The former head basketball coach at UNC-Wilmington, Richmond and DePaul
Universities, Wainwright led the Seahawks and Spiders to the NCAA Tournament.
In 2007, Wainwright was head coach of the FIBA Americas U19 Championships for
Men team in Serbia, directing that team to the silver medal, the country’s first
medal in that event since 1999. Jerry was an assistant coach at Xavier and Wake
Forest and coached high school basketball in Colorado and Illinois.
